Colorado Blog: 10-17-10 Mile High Mayhem

Since Kristin’s latest blog about our adventures at the Chicago Marathon we have been busy and instead of basking in the glory of running 26.2 miles (which by all means I would recommend, as running a marathon is truly an accomplishment that should be celebrated), we have continued our quest of completing a half marathon in every state in under 2 hours.  Less than one week after the Chicago Marathon, and still nervous that our bodies were not fully recovered; we crossed our finger and hopped a plane for Denver, Colorado (i.e. the “Land of Altitude”).  We capped a fantastic weekend of reminiscing with old college friends over a few cocktails, touring the Coors Brewery, and nearly hitting a moose (honestly that was totally unrelated to the brewery tour) with 13.1 magical miles in the mile-high city!  Finishing our race in Denver not only marked our 10th state – double digits Woowhoo! – but was also quite a personal achievement given the lack of recovery and the altitude differential (mile 4 felt more like mile 9).  Special congratulations to Wayne, Lindsey, Rob (aka the “Gingerbread Man”) and Ashley on completing their first half marathon!
